| Aurora's in the News! Baby Aurora Orangutan has become a star, with news of her birth and hand-raising traveling all around the world. She then was a finalist in the Cutest Zoo Baby contest. And just last week, the Houston Chronicle did an extensive article on Aurora and her caregivers. Read the article in the Chronicle. You can see the latest video about a day in her life, and the caregivers who tend to her every need, 24/7, at the bottom of this newsletter. And we've added as-of-yet unseen photos to her album. Every year, NRG and Reliant Energy employees get together to give back to their community on Global Giving Day. Now in its fourth year, this special day is observed by more than 30 organizations in 11 states. This year, our friends at NRG and Reliant Energy chose to Go Green and volunteer at the Zoo to help with several beautification projects, including planting roses around Duck Lake. Despite the hot and humid weather, the volunteers were enthusiastic and very hard-working. We want to thank them for helping to make the Zoo more beautiful than ever! | Zookeeper, the Movie In Theatres Now!
The Houston Zoo and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums partnered with Sony Pictures for the release of Zookeeper - a story about zookeeper Griffin Keyes (Kevin James) who is more comfortable with animals than with the ladies. When he decides to pursue a career he thinks more appealing, the animals break their code of silence to talk him out of it!
The Zoo, along with Stauffer's, is offering a special Zookeeper discount coupon for Houston Zoo guests.
