Annual Members Night picnic – June 9
It’s time again for the annual Members Night picnic. Join us for the fun, food and festivities beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 9. This evening event is for current FOZ member families only. You should have received a postcard invitation with all the details. Remember to bring your current FOZ membership card for entry to this members-only event!
If you haven’t called or emailed your RSVP, do so today! Email your name and the number of people in your family who will be attending or call 417-833-1570 with the same information.
The grilled hot dog plate is $2. Train rides will be $1 per person. We’ll have free face painting and lots of animal fun!
Not a current Friends of the Zoo member? It’s not too late to join and still enjoy this special members-only activity. And, you’ll have the benefit of a year of zoo fun! Click here to join today! Or, call 417-833-1570 to purchase your membership by phone.
Please note: Members Night will go on rain or shine! And, this is a members-only event. If you bring a guest, you must either use a guest pass for his/her admission or have the Add-A-Guest option on your membership (not valid with the babysitter pass).
Dickerson Park Zoo Partners with Springfield Little Theatre for “Children of Eden” Presentations
Springfield Little Theatre’s upcoming performances of “Children of Eden” will have a special animal twist prior to several performances. Staff and volunteers from Dickerson Park Zoo will present brief animal programs prior to performances on June 10-12, 16 and 19.
Current Friends of the Zoo members also receive a special discount on tickets to see “Children of Eden,” just for being FOZ members. When you call the box office to reserve your seats, mention you are a current FOZ member and you can purchase all tickets for $15! (Regular ticket prices are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and students, and $15 for children.)
“Children of Eden” performances run June 10-26. Call 869-1334 or visit Springfield Little Theatre’s website for all the details on performance dates and times.
New Option for Train Rides
Friends of the Zoo now offers a multi-ride pass for the Titus Express. These cards are available at the Safari Trading Company gift shop. The card is good for 12 train rides and can be used by more than one person and are especially handy for groups! Cost is $24 for non-members and $20 for FOZ members. (That’s like getting two free rides for FOZ members!) The multi-ride cards expire at the end of this ride season (Oct. 31, 2011).
