A Wild Encounter for Kids from MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital Earlier this year, through a unique partnership with the Houston Zoo, pediatric patients from M.D. Anderson Children's Cancer Center took a break from their hospital rooms to experience the wonders of nature first-hand. Following a visit by the Zoo's Education Staff to teach the kids all about animal anatomy, natural habitats and lifestyles, the young patients created special works of art that were later stuffed with treats and given to our chimps and rhinos for enrichment. Visit our Blog to read more about this partnership and the kids' recent trip to the Zoo to see their gifts in action! | Houstonians, if you want to feel enormous pride, take a moment to click PLAY on this wonderful new video made by our Conservation team. It outlines the projects that your Zoo is involved in, both locally and around the globe -- not just with animals, but with their habitat and the people that live near them. The Houston Zoo's Wildlife Conservation program began in 2004. The goal was to make the Zoo a leader in wildlife conservation. The Houston Zoo currently supports 20 projects in 9 countries around the globe to find solutions for saving species and the fragile landscapes they share. |
