 | Dear omss,

Here's what's new at the Houston Zoo.
|
Van Gogh or Our Goats? One of the popular attractions at the McGovern Children's Zoo is the contact area, also known as the petting zoo. On any given day, children can be seen with their parents petting and brushing the Children's Zoo's friendly goats. Some of those goats are engaging in an entirely new behavior - they have learned to paint! Find out which goats have been trained and see their pictures HERE:

Mountain Gorilla News Our partners at the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project have some very exciting news as they move six captive orphaned Grauer's gorillas one step closer to freedom. After caring for them for several years, the MGVP moved the gorilla group from their Rwandan headquarters to a new sanctuary in the Democratic Republic of Congo. There, the gorillas joined another group of orphans at this 350-acre forested facility. Find the story on our website. Do you want to travel to Rwanda to see Mountain Gorillas in the wild? Then join us next July for an adventure of a lifetime! Click HERE for more information! |

Now if you haven't been, seeing this will surely make you want to stop in to meet them! At the Swap Shop, kids 18 years old and under can bring in things they've found in nature and get points in return that they can use to swap their item out for something else in the shop full of cool things. But anyone can visit the Shop's cats. Click to play the video to get a glimpse of it all... and be sure to come for a visit next time you're here. |
