Oakland - Protest Urban Animal Slaughter Some in Oakland are trying to make it easier for folks to raise and kill animals in urban, residential areas. This despite the fact our state and federal governments have a difficult time regulating and overseeing commercial slaughterhouses.
Next week, there will be a community planning meeting. If you live in Oakland, do try and attend.
> Can't attend? Show your support for plant-based agriculture by leaving a nice comment on a recent radio piece here.

Protest Live Birth At State Fair! Last year a pregnant cow escaped while being unloaded at the Cal Expo State Fair. She was shot multiple times. Both she and her unborn calf died. Unfortunately the State Fair Board has decided to allow the live birth exhibit to continue this year, despite the significant welfare concerns and the lack of educational value the exhibit offers.
There are two protests scheduled for 4 pm tomorrow, the 14th and noon Saturday, the 16th at the main entrance of the fair. Bring your own signs.
Can't make it to the protest? Write a letter to the editor of the Sac Bee opposing the live birth exhibit.
