Turtles Hatch in the Rain Forest Two black-breasted leaf turtles hatched in June. Two tiny black-breasted leaf turtles hatched in the Indonesian Rain Forest! Our adult black-breasted leaf turtle pair, which resides in the cave under the rain forest waterfall, laid eggs this past winter.  Barely the size of a quarter when they hatched in mid-June, the tiny turtles remain behind the scenes where zoo keepers can monitor their growth.  Black-breasted leaf turtles are endangered in their native Asian home, where they are aggressively collected for use in traditional Chinese medicine.   Drive You Wild September 1 Join us for the zoo's 10th annual Drive You Wild Golf Outing on September 1 at Autumn Ridge Golf Course.  Participants will enjoy lunch, golf, "wild" activities on each hole and a delicious dinner.  Cost is $150 per person or $600 per team. The Children's Zoo is completely self-supporting.  All costs of operations, programs, and improvements are covered by earned revenue and donations.  Events like Drive You Wild are important for the future of the Zoo.
