Louisiana Dog in Need of a Home He looks like a flat-coated retriever

Louisiana Dog in Need of a Home - He looks like a flat-coated retriever.

I recently took in a young retriever mix who had been abandoned by his previous owners, was in kinda rough shape and bound for a high-kill shelter. I wasn't I a position to take him, but when I met him I decided I'd delay the inevitable and try to find a group to take him. Figured, I could always take him to the shelter myself if he was aggressive, destructive, etc. After  having him less than one day, I knew he couldn't go to a situation where he might be killed - euthanized. Just too good a guy-housebroken, no food aggression issues, plays well with others, eager to please, doesn't bark, etc. etc. I went ahead and got his shots and microchip  at my own expense (he was also neutered at the same time). He is heartworm positive, but I will also agree to bear that cost if I can find someone to take or foster him. My circumstances won't allow me to keep him very long, but I really need to find this pup a good situation.

He is a young guy, vet said born last summer. Attached are some pictures and a write up I did for posting on an adoption site. I really like this little pup, but my personal circumstances (let's just say my life is in a bit of disarray at the moment) and an old dog that thinks the new guy is lunch make keeping him nearly  impossible. I'll hang on as long as I have to though (just can't send him to a shelter where he might be euthanized - he is a great dog and deserves a decent life).

Any leads on a foster or permanent home would be greatly appreciated. I'm in south Louisiana but I'll make a road trip to get him placed. I'll can also pay food/vet expenses while he is fostered, and, like I said before, my commitment to this dog includes paying for heartworm treatments. I've only had him three weeks but he has really won me over. I just want him to go to someone who cares.
