Celebrate the 4th of July at the Zoo!

 4th of July

The Birmingham Zoo invites Zoo members, families, and friends to come out this Fourth of July weekend to visit the Zoo's animals, including Ajani - the third male African Elephant residing at Trails of Africa.  Enjoy all the Zoo has to offer this holiday weekend, such as exploring the Zoo's newest exhibit, Trails of Africa, cooling off in the Foam Zone and experiencing an up-close and personal look at the Red Diamond Sea Lion Splash Show.  In honor of our Nation's birthday, all active and retired military and their dependents can take advantage of free Zoo admission from Friday, July 1 to Monday, July 4, with valid military identification.

RHINO DAY

 SATURDAY, JULY 23

 Whtie Rhino

Did you know that Rhinos have existed on Earth for more than 50 million years?

Visit the Zoo on July 23 from 10:00am to 4:00pm for Rhino Day to learn all about these fascinating animals. Say "hello" to the White Rhinos in the Zoo's newest exhibit, Trails of Africa, get interesting and in-depth information on the species during Keeper Chats, and be sure to join in on the many games and activities scheduled throughout the day.

The White Rhino is currently facing the threat of extinction. Visit the Zoo to help us raise awareness for this species.

ENRICHMENT DAY

SATURDAY, JULY 30

Do you want to know how to keep a six ton Elephant or a 500 pound Lion cool on hot summer days? Find out by exploring the Zoo with our Zookeepers!  Watch the animals cool off with special treats and see animals in action.

You'll learn how the Zoo uses enrichment programs to increase the animals' level of activity and promote natural behaviors.  Come and enjoy enrichment demonstrations, keeper talks and other activies.
