Animal Place News                                Animal Place Website

June 2011

  Dear omss,

We would love to take in all unwanted farmed animals, but that isn't possible! But we know there are a lot of people who would love to adopt a farm animal but just don't know how! Okay, maybe not "a lot" but enough to help out the needy farmed animals we aren't able to take in. So if you are one of those people or you know someone who is, have them sign up for our Barnyard Pals email list. Each week (possibly more, if it's urgent), we'll send you an email with a list of farm animals needing homes.

Just enter your email here. If you are already a subscriber, just follow the instructions to update your profile. You'll receive an email to update and you can then select the Barnyard Pals list.

Alternatively, we can manually add you to the list! Just email us!

Check out ways you can help us save more lives and welcome more visitors to the sanctuary with our Raise the Roof campaign. You can help us build a hospital barn and public restrooms so that we can provide a safe place for neglected and abused animals! We'll provide progress reports - right now, we are waiting for the final clutches of wild birds to fly before we start construction!

Hope and Esperanza
Esperanza and HopeThese two are survivors. They were the only two survivors that left nearly a dozen other chickens and turkeys dead, starved to death. Santa Cruz Animal Control rescued the survivors and, even better, their abuser had to serve 80 hours of volunteer service and is prohibited from owning turkeys and chickens for three years. This may not seem like a lot, but farmed animal cruelty cases are rarely prosecuted at all. Hope and Esperanza are inseparable, even though Hope (the turkey) has to be kept with the special-needs turkeys and chickens, because of her large size (they are on a special diet). Esperanza still keeps her company!
