Reese needs a home! Hi, my name is Reese. I am a 2 year old Staffordshire Terrier. I have had a rough time recently and that makes me a little more cautious than you might expect. I don't like loud or unexpected noises. I don't like cars at all and will struggle a little until you get me in the car, then I am okay. I am great with people. I love meeting new people. Sometimes I get so excited when someone comes to visit that I just want to jump up and greet them face to face. I listen well though so you just have to tell me "off" and I won't jump up. I am good with cats. I try to play with them sometimes but I am never aggressive or try to hurt them. I love to sit with you. My foster Mom and I sit in a recliner together and watch tv. I also will snuggle up to your feet if you let me sleep on the bed. I am crate trained and like being in my crate when you're not home. I feel safe in there. I am housebroken and have not had a single accident since I moved to my foster home. I am really a sweet boy who just wants to be loved. If you would like a dog who likes to be petted and wants to curl up with you in the evening to watch tv, then I may be your boy. I don't like to walk around moving cars, they scare me so no busy streets for me either. Come meet me and let me show you how loveable I am. I am still with my foster mom, so pleae call and she will be happy to bring me in to meet you!! | | | Dear omss,
Many lives have been touched by the recent Tornadoes. The pets in the community are no exception. We are currently housing pets from people that have lost everything. We also have pets that have not yet been claimed. In addition, we spent days assisting SMART (State of MA Animal Rescue Team) with efforts to search out any pets that may be in need of assistance. We hope that all pets in the affected communities will be found safe and be reunited with their owners. We are committed to do whatever is needed to help the pets, and their owners, in need. | | The Littliest Shelter Pet Found in the Tornado An adorable little kitten was found amongst the devastation in Monson. Too little to survive on her own, as she is only 3 weeks old, is currently in our care in one of our loving foster homes. This is the hardest part of disasters.... searching and finding the little ones that are in the most desperate need of care. But, she is safe now, and with the love and care of foster mom Stephanie, she will have the best chance at life. | Wildlife needs help too This little rabbit was found all alone. No mom in sight. But this little one was quickly whisked to a wildlife rehabilition expert in the shelter's van. The rabbit was brought to the temporary shelter that SMART had set up and then Second Chance brought her to an experienced rehabilitator where she will have the best chance. Tornadoes are rare in Massachusetts. In the areas of Monson and Brimfield, there are a lot of wooded areas. Therefore, there is a lot of wildlife. It is extremely important when a little one like this is found to bring it to a rehabilitator. If anyone every finds orphaned wildlife, it is important to find an expert that can give the orphan the best chance at life. We hope this little one will survive and be able to be released back into the wild to live the life that she was meant to live. It is taking many hands to save the animals in this area. We thank SMART and many others for stepping up to help! | | Thank you to everyone that reads our posts on our website and/or our Facebook page and donates what we are in need of. It is because of all of you that we are able to do our work. It takes a lot of hours, supplies, and money to keep up with the demand for our services. Thank you for being a part of the Second Chance family! If you would like to donate to help, click here: | Sincerely, Sheryl Blancato Second Chance Animal Shelter | | |
